Task #2 - media favourites2
I stumbled upon this video about a year ago now, and found it incredibly fascinating. It is a short film, uploaded exactly two years ago today actually, produced by students at Emory University. The idea of it revolves around a university-aged man who accidentally ingests the wrong pills, and the last couple minutes of his life. It explores the phenomenon of "what would you do if you only had one day (or 5 minutes) left to live?" I can say without a word of a lie that I have watched it over ten times and each time there is another layer uncovered, or something else there that I didn't notice before.
The film and how it is put together is a great inspiration for me. One day I hope to direct and produce movies, or work in the film industry, and seeing something like this opens my mind up to the endless possibilities of creativity exerted into this film. The creativity used to create something like this is abslutely mind-blowing. Whether you have a deep appreciation for the film arts like I do, or just like to be entertained, this video is amazing for all. My round of applause goes to everyone that was a part of it, for it truly is an amazing short film. I'm sure that the makers have great careers ahead of them, if they don't already now.

Ps. Check out other Emory University short films, or any short films in general. Most are extremely creative and interesting.
Task #2: media favourites1Lover of the Light - Mumford and Sons.
This song is unreal. The feel of it harmoniously meshes folk, Celtic, as it is being nudged into the more popular division of iTunes/downloads. Even the mere sound of the instruments with Marcus Oliver Johnston Mumford's added powerful lead vocals adds so much to the song. The lyrics are profound, and leaves the interpreter open to different ideas about the song. Here are the lyrics for your own interpretation:
And in the middle of the night
I may watch you go.
There'll be no value in the strength
Of walls that I'll have grown
There'll be no comfort in the shade of the shadows thrown
But I'd be yours if you'd be mine
Stretch out my life and pick the seams out
Take what you like but close my ears and eyes
Or watch me stumble over and over
I had done wrong you built your tower
But call me home and I will build a throne
And wash my eyes out never again
But love the one you hold
And I will be your gold
To have and to hold
A lover of the light
With skin too tight and eyes like marbles
You spin me high so watch me as I glide
Before I tumble homeward, homeward
I know I've tried I was not stable
And flawed by pride I miss my sanguine eyes
So hold my hands up
Breathe in and breathe out
So love the one you hold
And I will be your gold
To have and to hold
A lover of the light
And in the middle of the night
I may watch you go.
There'll be no value in the strength
Of walls that I'll have grown
There'll be no comfort in the shade of the shadows thrown
You may not trust the promises of the change I'll show
But I'd be yours
If you'd be mine
So love the one you hold
And I'll be your gold
To have and to hold
A lover of the light
So love the one you hold
And I will be your gold
To have and to hold
A lover of the light
